From Intelligence to Business with BI Applications
The current trend is BI Applications and are positioned as the BI solution with a quick ROI and time to market compared to the build alternative because of the pre-packaged nature of the (Oracle) BI Applications. Being an evangalist myself for the BI Applications which I support wholeheartedly, it is of critical importance for an implementation team to meet the expectation set by the vendor or system integrator. The key point is business process skills and operational system knowledge. This blog entry discusses the change of focus of a Business Intelligence (Applications) project from the Intelligence part to the Business part, from data integration as a goal to the integration with the primary processes and the support of these processes.
