Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud (ARCS) – January 2018 Updates

The following announcements and considerations are outlined in the upcoming Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud (ARCS) update:

Oracle Account Reconciliation Cloud (ARCS)
January 2018

Monthly Update Schedule:

Oracle will begin applying the latest updates to EPM Cloud Test environments starting at 22:00 UTC-8 (2:00pm Pacific Time) Friday, January 5, 2018 and to Production environments on Friday, January 19, 2017, also starting at 22:00 UTC-8. The updates will be applied to your EPM Cloud environments during the first subsequent Daily Maintenance.

The Oracle Help Center, which provides access to updated documentation, will also be available on January 5, 2018.

NOTE: Account Reconciliation Cloud does not support migration of snapshots from the latest service version to an earlier service version (for example, when moving snapshots between test and production pods during the window when test is upgraded before production.)  Migration between the same versions will still be supported.  Some objects, such as Profiles, may still be moved from the latest to an earlier version outside of migration snapshots by exporting them from the latest service version and importing them into the earlier version.

New Features:
  • Detailed Information Now Available in Transaction Matching Balancing Report
  • Relocate EPM Cloud Environments from One Identity Domain to Another
  • Migrating From On-Premise Account Reconciliation Manager to Account Reconciliation Cloud
  • New EPM Getting Started Guides

Removal of Support:

  • Enhanced User Experience in Reconciliation Compliance - As of early calendar year, 2018, the old method of accessing the Reconciliation List, Transactions List, and Profiles List will no longer be available. Enhancements to the Reconciliation Compliance user interface that were introduced several months ago provided a more intuitive and improved user experience, including Reconciliation, Transaction and Profile List Views, Manage Reports, and common use of a filter bar across multiple EPM Cloud services. These changes provide you with quick, easy navigation.

Defects Fixed:

  • 26997565 - Short description value in pre-mapped transactions import cannot exceed 50 characters.
Considerations:
  • When using EPM Automate, log out and log in again after importing a Financial Close Management (FCM) snapshot to refresh the icons on the Home page.
  • You may receive inaccurate messages from Navigator if pop-up blockers are enabled.  Disable pop-up blockers in your browser to avoid this.
  • In the Academy, some pages and icons may appear different in the video and the Cloud service.

Oracle Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) Cloud Support for SHA-256 Encryption Algorithm

Does EPM Cloud support the SHA-2/SHA-256 encryption algorithm?

This question has been asked more frequently and we thought we would provide some information on the topic.

Thank you to Vinay Gupta, Consulting Member of Technical Staff, who provided a presentation on this topic.

There are two cases for EPM Cloud Support for SHA-256 Encryption Algorithm:

  • SHA-256 encryption algorithm for browser/Smart View/EPM Automate connections
  • SHA-256 encryption algorithm for SAML messages used for SSO with Identity Provider

SHA-256 encryption algorithm for browser/Smart View/EPM Automate connections

  • Access to EPM Cloud via browser, Smart View, EPM Automate, and other supported clients is through TLS with SHA-2/SHA-256 encryption level
  • It is recommended that the latest certified available browsers, which are compatible with higher cipher strengths and have improved security, be utilized for connecting to EPM Cloud.

SHA-256 encryption algorithm for SAML messages used for SSO with Identity Provider

  • Oracle OAM Service Provider (SP) uses MD5 as the default to sign SAML messages to Identity Provider (IdP).
  • If your IdP, such as SiteMinder, indicates that the signature validation of the authentication request from IDM fails because it is signed with MD5, while the IdP supports only newer algorithms (such as RSA).
    • Create an SR requesting Exception request to provide SSO SP XML metadata (in SHA-256 format) from Oracle My Services portal, and use Problem Type as Hosting Services.
  • Oracle will upload the SHA-256 based SP metadata to the SR, which you can then upload to the IdP.

Federated Identity Management - You can configure SSO with your SAML 2.0-based Identity Provider (IdP).
